A two way flagging set up

A Traffic Control Flagger directs vehicle and pedestrian traffic in an organized way to ensure public safety at construction zones, accidents, public events, or other road disruptions. Using signs and other devices, they manage the movements of emergency response teams, construction workers and the general public.

Work takes place at or around the traffic disruption, on streets and highways in urban, suburban and rural areas.

​

Suitable for people who can work well under pressure, communicate effectively and manage a complex physical environment.

​

Day-to-day

  • set up, manage and remove temporary traffic control schemes and signage

  • direct traffic using a stop-slow sign and other traffic control devices

  • give and receive radio updates to coordinate with other road traffic personnel, construction workers and emergency response teams

  • complete site checks and monitor traffic behavior and flow to ensure public safety

  • take instructions from crew leaders, foremen, managers, inspectors, auditors or officials.

Considerations

  • Working outdoors.

  • Multiple locations per day

  • Standing for 8 to 10 hrs per day no breaks possible
